Microsoft has inked a strategic partnership with IT giants Cognizant, Infosys, TCS and Wipro to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI, chief executive officer Satya Nadella said on December 11.

These companies will deploy over 50,000 Microsoft Copilot licenses each (more than 200,000 collectively), setting up a new benchmark for enterprise-scale AI adoption, a company statement said.

The announcement, made by Nadella during his India tour, comes a day after the CEO announced a pledge to invest $17.5 billion in India AI and cloud infrastructure and to intensify its skilling and other operations in the country by 2029.

“There's great momentum in India in terms of AI/Agentic AI applications getting deployed,” Nadella said, adding that he is “excited” the US tech giant’s $17.5 billion investment and the agreement with top IT services firms.

Soon after the announcement, TCS and Infosys were trading in the red, while Wipro was up 0.49 percent on NSE at 11:17 am.

Microsoft said the partnerships will “transform” the way these organisations operate and innovate and boost productivity and accessibility while driving AI-powered innovation across industries, the statement said.

“Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro aren’t just embracing AI—they’re setting the global pace. These global enterprises are moving beyond experimentation to full-scale deployment, embedding Microsoft Copilot into the fabric of everyday work. This bold adoption is inspiring a new era of enterprise transformation, powered by trusted digital collaborators. The blueprint is being written here—where speed, scale, and impact converge to redefine what’s possible,” said Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India & South Asia.
