A woman from Ripley, West Virginia, has been arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate US President Donald Trump, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said. Authorities said she used social media to recruit people to carry out the attack.
The suspect has been identified as Morgan L. Morrow, 39. Officials said she is accused of recruiting “individuals to pursue and assassinate” President Trump through online posts. Morrow has been charged with one count of terroristic threats and is being held at the South Central Regional Jail.
In a Facebook post, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said the arrest followed a detailed evening investigation by deputies and the Jackson County Bureau of Investigations, adding that further details would be released as the investigation continues.
Sheriff RH Mellinger said the case was not politically motivated, describing it as an active criminal investigation with documented and troubling concerns.
Who is Morgan L. Morrow?
According to an X post shared by Libs of TikTok, Morrow works as a librarian at the Jackson County Public Library in West Virginia. The post said that while she allegedly called for the assassination of Trump, other commenters also made calls for the killing of Stephen Miller, Larry Ellison, and Peter Thiel.
Libs of TikTok also shared a screenshot of Morrow’s Facebook profile. Her bio described her as offering “Friendly and Patient Customer Service” and said her patience came from being a full-time mother for 13 years. The profile stated that she attended Marietta High School.
The arrest comes just hours after the killing of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse, in Minneapolis, who was the second person fatally shot by a federal agent in the city this month, following the earlier shooting of Renee Nicole Good.
