The Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group has released a video of Israeli-German hostage Rom Braslavski amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which has claimed the lives of over 60,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Rom Braslavski, was captured in the Gaza Strip during an incident that sparked the full-scale war in October 2023. In the newly released video, he is seen identifying himself and pleading with the Israeli government to secure his release.

Appearing pale and thin, Braslavski lies on the ground in Gaza, watching news footage about the region’s worsening hunger crisis.

This comes amid the nearly 90 per cent of Gaza’s population has been uprooted.

Who is Rom Braslavski?

Rom Braslavski, 21, was working as a security officer at the Nova music festival when he was taken captive. Witnesses who managed to escape said he had helped several attendees reach safety before being abducted.

In the latest footage, Braslavski identifies himself while appearing to watch news reports on Gaza’s hunger crisis. His weakened appearance has deeply concerned his family, who said in a statement, "They managed to break Rom. Even the strongest person has a breaking point."

"Rom is an example of all the hostages. They must all be brought home now."

Moneycontrol could not independently verify the video.

According to the Israeli military, 49 of the 251 individuals abducted from Israel are still held in Gaza, with 27 confirmed dead.

This is the second video of Braslavski released. An earlier clip from April 16 showed him describing a medical condition that caused persistent itching and appealing to both U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for help in securing his release.
