‘Sold the blood of Gazans’: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM attacks Pakistan govt for signing Gaza peace deal

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM On Pakistan Govt Signing Gaza Peace Deal

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has strongly criticised Pakistan’s federal leadership for endorsing the US-led Gaza peace initiative under President Donald Trump, calling the move a betrayal of Palestinians and the wider Muslim community.

KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir of prioritising political interests over the lives of Palestinians by signing on to what he referred to as the “Board of Peace.” Addressing supporters, Afridi said the decision amounted to sacrificing the rights and dignity of Palestinians.

“We demand that the public be taken into confidence and that no step be taken that hurts the self-respect of Pakistanis and the entire Muslim ummah,” Afridi said.

He alleged that the federal government had failed to consult the Pakistani public before committing to the international initiative and claimed that Sharif had “sold the blood of Gazans.” Afridi argued that Pakistan’s long-standing stance of supporting Palestine had been undermined by joining the US-backed framework.

During his speech, the KP chief minister also defended former prime minister Imran Khan, who remains jailed. He rejected allegations that Khan was aligned with foreign interests, saying such accusations had been levelled against him for decades. Afridi claimed Khan would never have compromised on the issues of Palestine or Kashmir if he were in power.

Turning his criticism toward the current leadership, Afridi said those who approved the Gaza plan were the ones acting against Muslim interests. He warned of growing public anger and signalled a possible shift toward mass protests, stating that his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was being pushed out of formal political space.

“Our emotions have been toyed with, and our Muslim brothers have been sold out,” he said, adding that Khan had instructed him to begin preparations for a street movement.

Afridi said dialogue was still possible through political intermediaries but cautioned that the window for negotiations was narrowing. He warned that if a call for protests were issued from Adiala Jail, where Khan is being held, PTI supporters were ready to mobilise nationwide.
