Donald Trump had admitted in a jaw-dropping letter to Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre that the US President is threatening to seize Greenland after being snubbed by the Nobel Peace Prize committee.

“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace. Although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump said in the letter. “The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland,” the US president added.

According to reports, the letter has also been circulated to European ambassadors. The Nobel Peace Prize isn’t decided by the Norwegian government but is awarded by an independent committee.

Trump further said that Denmark cannot protect the island from Russia and China and Copenhagen has no right of ownership. "There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also," he said.

Trump targets Greenland: Why US wants it and can EU-NATO defend Denmark’s Arctic island?

"I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT,” he added.

Trump sparked alarm among NATO allies over the weekend after threatening to slap tariffs on a group of European alliance members unless he gains control of Greenland. The move drew sharp backlash from European Union leaders, with French President Emmanuel Macron urging the bloc to activate its strongest retaliatory mechanism.

EU ambassadors convened on Sunday to weigh potential responses should Trump carry out the threat, including imposing tariffs on up to €93 billion ($108 billion) worth of US goods. The bloc’s leaders are scheduled to gather for an emergency summit on Thursday.
