Israeli PM Cancels India Visit

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has again delayed his upcoming visit to India, which had been expected later this year for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Israeli media reported that the trip, planned for December 2025, was postponed due to security concerns following the recent terror attack in New Delhi that left at least 10 people dead and dozens injured, marking the worst such incident in the capital in more than a decade.

"Netanyahu, who last visited India in 2018 and was set to return for meetings with PM Modi, is now expected to seek a new date next year pending security assessments," i24NEWS reported, quoting sources.

It had previously been reported that Netanyahu intended to visit India before the end of the year. This marks the third time in 2025 that the Israeli prime minister has postponed a scheduled trip to New Delhi.

In September, Netanyahu scrapped a one-day visit planned for September 9, citing a clash with preparations for Israel’s unprecedented repeat elections on September 17. A similar cancellation occurred ahead of the April polls earlier this year.

Within Israel, the visit was largely viewed as an attempt by Netanyahu to showcase his global standing. In July, his party displayed campaign banners featuring images of Netanyahu alongside PM Modi, US President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, seeking to portray him as operating in a “different league” of world leaders.

His re-election messaging has heavily emphasized his strong rapport with influential international figures and his positioning as a leader critical to Israel’s national security.
