Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke to his sons over the phone for approximately 20 minutes following directions from the Chief Justice of Pakistan, his sister Aleema Khan said in a post on X.

She stated that the Chief Justice ordered authorities to allow Imran Khan to communicate with his children, with the conversation continuing for nearly 20 minutes. Aleema Khan added that her nephews shared that he was “extremely happy” to hear from them after such a prolonged gap.

“We can confirm that he was able to speak with them for approximately 20 minutes,” she wrote.

In her statement, she also expressed concern over Imran Khan’s health, especially his eyesight. She said the family is waiting for his urgent medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad under the care of his personal doctors.

“We are now awaiting his urgent medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad under the supervision of his personal doctors, where specialist doctors must make every possible effort to restore his eyesight," she said.

“The intentional delay in providing him timely treatment has already caused damage to his eyesight. We cannot and will not tolerate any further delay, and immediate specialist care is essential to prevent any permanent loss of vision,” Khan added.

It may be noted that Imran Khan’s sons, Kasim and Sulaiman, have repeatedly said over the past year that they have not been allowed to meet their father since his arrest. On Thursday, after a report on his vision loss was presented in court, Kasim described the situation as “a direct consequence of solitary confinement and medical neglect.”

“We have been informed that my father, Imran Khan, has lost most of the vision in his right eye, with reports indicating that only 15% eyesight remains,” he said.

“This is the direct consequence of 922 days of solitary confinement, medical neglect (denied blood tests) and the deliberate denial of proper treatment in jail,” he added, maintaining that the “responsibility lies squarely with the regime in power, the army chief and the puppets enabling this cruelty”.
