Scammers have set their sights on a high-profile venue linked to the World Economic Forum in Davos, duping wealthy attendees by selling fake tickets that promise exclusive access to the so-called “USA House”.
The organisers of USA House issued a public warning on their website, urging visitors to avoid purchasing VIP access packages from unauthorised sellers. They said reports of fraudulent ticket sales have spiked sharply this year, pointing to an unusually widespread scam.
“Caveat billionaires,” the organisers wrote, warning that third parties were falsely claiming to sell VIP entry to USA House and other venues run by Stromback Global in Davos.
The organisers said the volume of enquiries suggested that the bogus passes may be “the fastest-selling fiction about Davos” in years. Expressing regret, they added that they sympathised with those who had already fallen victim to the fraud.
USA House, located in a church just outside Davos’s high-security zone, is hosting a packed programme of discussions throughout the week. The events feature chief executives, senior policymakers and members of the US Cabinet.
US President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the forum on Wednesday afternoon. His speech will be livestreamed for audiences gathered at USA House, which is hosting several senior figures from his administration.
The scam has emerged as political and business leaders from across the world gather in the Swiss Alps amid heightened global uncertainty. Trump’s appearance at Davos, his first in six years, is among the most closely watched events of the week.
A high-profile reception linked to the USA House events is also set to be attended by several prominent Indian business leaders, including Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Srini Pallia, Salil S Parekh, Sanjiv Bajaj, Anish Shah and Hari S Bhartia.
Organisers have advised attendees to rely only on official channels for event access as the forum continues.
