The long-running controversy surrounding the files linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein continues to cast a shadow over the presidency of Donald Trump. The documents, tied to Epstein and his notorious private island, contain allegations involving a number of influential figures from around the world.

Despite repeated questions about the case, Trump has often sought to distance himself from the issue and dismiss the claims connected to it.

Now, the United States Department of Justice has released additional Federal Bureau of Investigation records describing interviews with a woman who alleged that Trump sexually assaulted her after she was introduced to him by Epstein.

Officials said the documents were not included in earlier batches of Epstein-related releases because they had mistakenly been labelled as “duplicative”.

The newly disclosed material includes accounts of several FBI interviews conducted with the woman in 2019. During those interviews, she alleged that she was assaulted by both Epstein and Trump when she was between the ages of 13 and 15.

In one of the interviews, the woman told investigators that Epstein took her to “either New York or New Jersey” and introduced her to Trump.

She alleged that she bit Trump when he attempted to force her to perform oral sex on him.

The woman also told investigators that she and people close to her had received threatening phone calls over the years warning her to remain silent. She said she believed the threats were linked to Epstein.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing related to the Epstein allegations. The Justice Department has previously stated that some of the released material “contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump.”

The latest disclosure has also sparked fresh political tensions in Washington.

Democrats have accused the Trump administration of attempting to conceal elements of the Epstein investigation that could prove politically damaging to the president.

The issue has now reached Capitol Hill. On Wednesday, a committee in the United States House of Representatives voted to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi to answer questions about how the Justice Department handled the Epstein-related documents.
