Freshly released emails have revealed that Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor shared photographs of his daughters with Jeffrey Epstein several years after the financier’s 2008 conviction for sex offences.
According to a report by The Sun, the emails date back to 2010 and 2011 and contain images of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The photographs reportedly show Princess Beatrice during a climb of Mont Blanc, while Princess Eugenie is seen taking part in a charity cycling event.
The emails are part of a large collection of previously undisclosed documents linked to Epstein that were made public on Friday. The material forms part of ongoing disclosures related to Epstein’s network and his interactions with powerful and well-connected individuals.
The latest disclosures are particularly damaging because they appear to contradict Prince Andrew’s earlier claim that he cut all ties with Jeffrey Epstein after the financier’s 2008 conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution.
According to the newly released documents, the first set of photographs was sent on December 21, 2011, from Andrew’s official “HRH The Duke of York” email address. The email appeared to be a holiday greeting card and featured Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie standing together in a snowy setting. Beatrice is seen wearing a silver Christmas cracker hat, while Eugenie is wrapped in a brown scarf and fur hat. The card, signed by King Charles’s brother, carried the message, “Wishing you much joy and happiness at this time and for the year ahead.”
A second greeting card was sent on December 20, 2012. It again included images of Beatrice and Eugenie, along with photos of Andrew abseiling down The Shard and Sarah Ferguson during a trip to Canada’s Great Slave Lake. One image shows Princess Beatrice smiling with her hand on her hip while climbing Mont Blanc in February 2012. Another shows Princess Eugenie taking part in the “Night Rider” charity cycling event later that year. Both cards carried the same message and were signed by Andrew.
Renewed scrutiny of Andrew-Epstein ties
The revelations have intensified scrutiny of Andrew’s relationship with Epstein, who died in jail in 2019. Although Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, the release of previously unseen documents has revived questions about his continued contact with Epstein after the latter’s conviction.
Earlier this week, reports said Princess Beatrice was seen spending time with her father during a horse ride near Windsor. Separate reports claimed Princess Eugenie has distanced herself from Andrew amid the renewed controversy.
The files also suggest that Andrew remained in touch with Epstein after his release from jail. In 2010, Epstein reportedly emailed Andrew, who expressed pleasure at being back in contact and referred to Epstein’s freedom following house arrest. That same year, Andrew stayed at Epstein’s New York townhouse, and the two were photographed together in Central Park shortly after Epstein completed his sentence.
Additional documents claim that Andrew invited Epstein to Buckingham Palace just a month after Epstein’s house arrest ended. This directly contradicts Andrew’s 2019 Newsnight interview, in which he said he met Epstein only to end their association.
The latest release is said to include millions of documents, images and videos, further widening the spotlight on Epstein’s network and its high-profile connections.
