Baloch activist Mir Yar Baloch, president of the Free Balochistan Movement, has accused Pakistan’s Army of defaming India to cover its own failures, calling it the “biggest enemy of Islam and Muslims.”
In an interview with News18 India, he claimed that Baloch separatists could liberate Balochistan in a week if provided with fighter jets and weapons.
Mir Yar Baloch said Pakistan had targeted nearly 40 mosques in Balochistan with artillery and aerial bombardment. He also stated that if Pakistan had not annexed Balochistan in 1948, the region might have ceased to exist as a country or chosen to join India.
“The accelerated exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources is helping fund Pakistan’s terror machinery, enabling financial support for jihadist and extremist forces, while simultaneously being used to kill the Baloch people," he said, urging the UN to intervene and stop the armed conflict.
The activist’s remarks follow Pakistan’s security forces claiming to have killed 216 militants during a week-long operation across 12 locations in Balochistan, which also resulted in the deaths of 22 security personnel and 36 civilians.
Mir Yar Baloch rejected claims that Baloch militants received support from India, stating, “Pakistan does not have the capacity to compete with India in terms of economy, technology, defence, and military strength. Therefore, the easiest way to discredit India is to accuse it of supporting the Balochistan independence movement."
Kashmiri activist Javed Beigh, in a post on X, described Balochistan’s integration into Pakistan as a forced annexation. He claimed that the Khan of Kalat initially declared independence in 1947, resisted joining Pakistan, and that military pressure forced accession. Beigh drew parallels with Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said a new generation of Baloch youth continues to resist decades of state repression.
Mir Yar Baloch also urged India’s government to take diplomatic and political action, stating that the Baloch people wanted PM Narendra Modi to make a clear foreign policy statement on Balochistan, including opening a diplomatic mission.
“The Baloch nation is fighting the enemy using only stones and sticks. If they receive the necessary defensive weapons, Pakistan would not be able to remain in Balochistan for more than a week," he added.
This statement highlights ongoing tensions in Balochistan and the calls for international attention and intervention to address the humanitarian and political crisis in the region.
