Toronto police have issued a nationwide warrant for 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori, wanted in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Indo-Canadian woman Himanshi Khurana, in what authorities consider a case of intimate partner violence.
The Canada-wide warrant charges Ghafoori with first-degree murder, a crime that carries a potential life sentence without parole if premeditation and intent are established.
Toronto Police said officers first responded to a missing person report on Friday, December 19, 2025, at approximately 10:41 pm, from the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area, where Khurana was last seen.
“On Saturday, December 20, 2025, at approximately 6:30 am, officers located the missing female deceased inside a residence,” the police statement said, confirming the death was classified as a homicide.
Police noted that the victim and the suspect “are known to each other,” though they did not provide additional details about the relationship. The case marks the 40th homicide in Toronto in 2025.
Investigators have released an image of Ghafoori and are appealing to the public for information. “We have released an image of the suspect, and that is out there, and we’re appealing to the public, if anybody would happen to know where this man is to please call police,” a spokesperson said.
Khuranа was identified as a Toronto-based digital creator, with her photo matching one previously posted on social media.
The Indian Consulate in Toronto expressed grief over the killing, stating in a post on X: “We are deeply saddened and shocked by the murder of Ms Himanshi Khurana, a young Indian national, in Toronto. We extend our deepest condolences to her bereaved family during this moment of profound grief.”
The consulate added that it has been in constant touch with Canadian authorities and is providing all possible assistance to Khurana’s family. The investigation is ongoing as Toronto Police continue efforts to locate and apprehend Ghafoori.
