Did you know that India is home to some of the world’s most extraordinary cultural and natural treasures? As we celebrate National Tourism Day on January 25, it’s the perfect time to rediscover the destinations that showcase India’s rich history, architectural brilliance, and natural beauty on a global stage.

Observed every year across the country, National Tourism Day aims to spread awareness about the importance of tourism in strengthening India’s economy and preserving its heritage. The day also highlights India’s growing reputation as a world-class travel destination.

The government officially recognised tourism as a key sector in 1958, leading to the formation of a dedicated Department of Tourism. Its goal was simple yet powerful — to protect India’s heritage while making destinations accessible and tourist-friendly.

With that spirit in mind, here are 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites every Indian should experience at least once in a lifetime.
