In a major boost to regional rail connectivity, Gujarat’s sixth Vande Bharat Express connecting Asarwa (Ahmedabad) and Udaipur City is set to be inaugurated today, with regular operations commencing from February 18. The new service is expected to enhance passenger convenience while strengthening tourism and economic ties between Gujarat and Rajasthan.
According to a release from Indian Railways, the Asarwa–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express reflects the national transporter’s ongoing push towards regional development through upgraded stations, modern rail infrastructure and world-class onboard amenities.

The introduction of this service is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Udaipur, making weekend tourism and business travel more seamless. Udaipur, known for its palaces, lakes and heritage appeal, is likely to see increased tourist footfall from Gujarat.
Boost to Tourism and Regional Economy
With this addition, Gujarat now operates six Vande Bharat trains, reinforcing its position as a key rail connectivity hub in western India. Improved rail access between Ahmedabad and Udaipur is expected to boost inter-state tourism, facilitate smoother business travel, and strengthen economic integration between the two states.
As premium semi-high-speed trains continue to expand across India, Indian Railways is positioning the Vande Bharat network as a cornerstone of its modernisation drive — offering faster journeys, upgraded passenger experience and enhanced regional connectivity.
