In some cases, farmers say that names of people who have not taken loans are in the list of beneficiaries.

"This (Priyanka's appointment) was long overdue and was in offing for about six months. This will be a big boost for the party in a state as important as Uttar Pradesh," Nath told PTI in an interview.

Before the Assembly elections in November last year, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had promised that if his party was voted to power, it would implement farmers' loan waiver within 10 days of government formation.

Nath was answering a question on Mayawati's concern over 100 per cent benefit to farmers under the scheme, including those who had borrowed from money lenders.

Govind Rajput was allocated Revenue and Transport Department, while Tarun Bhanot was given the Finance Department.

The 'job deprivation' remarks made by Nath soon after taking oath on Monday had drawn all-round criticism, with parties like the BJP, RJD and JD(U) expressing their disapproval.

On being asked about his absence at the oath-taking ceremony in MP, Yadav said, "I will not talk on this now."

Nath told reporters after taking office on Monday that his government will give incentives to industries that give 70 per cent of their jobs to those from his state and added that people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh get employment in Madhya Pradesh at the cost of the local population.

The party also defended Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath after he was targeted by the BJP and the Akali Dal, saying there was no case against him, and noted that Kumar did not hold any party post and was not given a ticket for decades.

"I took oath today...I had taken oath several times in (in the past), but none said anything then. There is no case against me, there is no FIR or charge sheet against me. I was also in-charge of (the party affairs in) Delhi," Kamal Nath said.
