The 51-year-old leader, who enjoys a deeply loyal fan base, chose to speak about the matter after weeks of speculation and discussion across social media and news platforms.
Speaking at another gathering of women cadres of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Mahabalipuram, Vijay promised to look after the welfare of women unlike any party in the country.
He announced 8 gram gold, silk saree to women beneficiaries for marriage, along with Rs 2,500 for women until age of 60 and free sanitary pads through ration shops, schools and colleges. He also assured free 6-cooking gas cylinders in a year and Free bus travel in all govt-run buses for women. He promised a gold ring to each newborn child born in TN after coming to power.
