"I am taking this battle to the people's court," a combative Thackeray said at a press conference here.
Petitions filed on January 12 by Bharat Gogavale, the chief whip of the ruling Shiv Sena against the 14 MLAs, said they were challenging the "legality, propriety and correctness" of the January 10 order passed by Speaker Rahul Narwekar dismissing the disqualification petitions submitted by him against the rival camp Assembly members.
The speaker had also rejected the Thackeray faction's plea to disqualify 16 MLAs of the ruling camp, including Shinde.
Deora joined the Eknath Shinde-led faction of Sena, which was recently ruled as the "real Shiv Sena" by the Maharashtra Speaker, in the presence of the chief minister in Mumbai. He is expected to be fielded by the party as its candidate from the South Mumbai constituency.
The stakes are high as an order against the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led faction could affect the stability of the state government.
The project's cost went up not due to the delay in its completion, but due to the change in alignment to address the concerns of the fishermen community of Worli, Shinde said.
The court had earlier set December 31 deadline for Rahul Narwekar to decide the pleas. He sought a 15-day extension but the court agreed to 10 days
The first phase of the project is a 10.58-km stretch between Marine Drive to Worli in south Mumbai.

The court has also directed the Speaker to decide disqualification petitions against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLAs by January 31
Among those present at Shinde's residence were Fadnavis as well as state ministers Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Deepak Kesarkar.
Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar will attend the event, a press release from the Mumbai University said.
Apart from this, he also announced revised administrative sanctions for irrigation projects worth Rs 14,000 crore.
Narwekar had issued notices to 40 MLAs of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and 14 from Shiv Sena (UBT)
