Amruta Fadnavis is an Indian banker, singer, and social activist best known as the wife of Maharashtra’s former Chief Minister and current Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
Early Life and EducationAmruta was born on April 9, 1979, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, into a middle-class Brahmin family. Her father, Sharad Ranade, was a senior officer in the RBI. She pursued her graduation in commerce and later completed an MBA in finance. Amruta went on to build a successful career in banking and served as Vice President with Axis Bank in Mumbai. Her professional background earned her recognition beyond her association with politics.
Marriage and Public LifeAmruta married Devendra Fadnavis in 2005. When her husband rose to the position of Chief Minister of Maharashtra in 2014, she transitioned into public life. Despite being in a political family, she has always maintained her independent identity as a professional and artist. During her tenure as the CM’s wife, she took on several social initiatives, especially related to women empowerment, river clean-up drives, and welfare campaigns.
Career in Music and Social ActivismAmruta Fadnavis is also known for her passion for music. She has performed as a playback singer in Hindi films and at various public events.
Fadnavis claimed that when the Opposition parties failed to find anything against him, they deployed their "troll armies" to launch personal attacks against his wife and him.
