Amruta was born on April 9, 1979, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, into a middle-class Brahmin family. Her father, Sharad Ranade, was a senior officer in the RBI. She pursued her graduation in commerce and later completed an MBA in finance. Amruta went on to build a successful career in banking and served as Vice President with Axis Bank in Mumbai. Her professional background earned her recognition beyond her association with politics.

Amruta married Devendra Fadnavis in 2005. When her husband rose to the position of Chief Minister of Maharashtra in 2014, she transitioned into public life.
