Indian IT services firm Wipro on May 17 announced that its chief operating officer Amit Choudhary has stepped down effective immediately to pursue opportunities outside the organization, the firm said in an exchange filing.
Choudhary, whose last date will be May 31, is being replaced by Sanjeev Jain effective immediately and will be based in Bengaluru.
Choudhary is the second big departure from the Wipro stable after the company's Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) president Anis Chenchah resigned on May 10. The two big resignations come after former chief executive officer Thierry Delaporte resigned on April 6. Interestingly, Choudhary, Chenchah, and Delaporte have all worked in the France-headquartered Capgemini.
Both Chencha and Choudhary joined Wipro when Delaporte was the CEO of Wipro.
Meanwhile, Jain will report to chief executive officer and managing director Srinivas Pallia and will continue to be a member of Wipro’s executive committee, the filing said.
Jain had joined the IT firm in 2023 as the global head of business operations. He has an experience of over 30 years in leading large, diverse teams and scaling up global operations. Since joining the firm, Jain has been leading Wipro’s talent supply chain, including Wipro’s gig work platform TopGear, as well as talent skilling, global mobility, talent acquisition, and business
resilience functions.

He has played a key leadership role in the development and deployment of
Wipro’s AI training and upskilling strategy, the company said in the statement. In his new role, Jain will oversee global business operations, the chief information office, the chief information security office, and the enterprise risk management function, the company said.
Before joining Wipro, Jain worked at Kyndryl Holdings (IBM spin-off), IBM,
Cognizant, and GE. He is an alumnus of IIM-Mumbai.
