Wipro Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil said on October 14 that employees will work from the office three days a week. Employees would also have the option to seek remote working for specified days in a year, he added.

On November 6, 2023, Moneycontrol reported that India's fourth largest software services firm informed employees that it is implementing a compulsory hybrid work policy starting November 15, where staffers have to be present in the office at least three days a week.

"As an organisation which focuses on profit with purpose, we are focused on a high-performance work culture that empowers associates to do their best work while prioritising their well-being," Govil wrote on professional networking platform LinkedIn.

The largest player in the IT services sector, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already asked its workforce to attend office for five days a week last year. Meanwhile, Wipro's cross-town Infosys also asked employees to come to the office 10 days a month.

Similarly, peers Cognizant and HCLTech have also enacted work-from-office mandates.

He said the company has taken this step to focus on the well-being of employees as well as to motivate them for a high-performing culture, driven by collaboration. He outlined four broad reasons for the hybrid work policy: collaboration, flexibility, sensitivity to & inclusion of special needs, and trust.

IT companies have been highlighting that their clients are increasingly asking employees to be in the office for better collaboration, resulting in such mandates from IT companies.

In the mail sent by Wipro to employees in November, accessed by Moneycontrol, the company further said the change in policy would enhance communication, resolve issues promptly, foster team building and collaboration, and also strengthen relations between colleagues.
