After multiple teasers in the last few weeks, Vivo has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the X Fold 5, in India today. It succeeds the X Fold3 Pro, which debuted last year, and offers a more durable, lighter, and thinner design than ever before. The X Fold 5 will compete with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and intends to cement Vivo in the premium foldable smartphone space.
Vivo X Fold 5: Price, availability
The Vivo X Fold 5 is priced at Rs. 1,49,999 for the sole 16GB RAM + 512GB storage option. It is available in a Titanium Grey finish and is currently open for pre-orders, with the general sale starting from July 30. The company has also announced several introductory offers with the device, including a Rs 15,000 flat discount, with select bank cards, bringing its effective price to Rs 1,34,999.

The Vivo X Fold 5 comes with an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED inner display and a 6.53-inch AMOLED cover screen. Both panels have a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,500 nits local peak brightness, and TÜV Rheinland global eye protection 3.0. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 onboard storage.
For optics, the Vivo X Fold 5 gets a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto shooter with up to 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom, and a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultrawide camera. The rear cameras are backed by Zeiss optics. For selfies and video calls, the device has a 20MP front-facing shooter integrated in both the cover and main display.
Further, Vivo has packed a 6000mAh battery in the X Fold 5 with 80W wired and 40W wireless charging support. It is claimed to come with IPX8+IPX9+IP5X ratings for water and dust resistance. Connectivity options include dual nano SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The X Fold 5 runs on Vivo’s native Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15, with multiple AI features.
