Publisher Sega has announced the release dates of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Both the Yakuza remakes will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 8, after they have launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13. The PC versions of both games will get additional language support on December 9.
For the very first time, both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will support French, Italian, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian, Portuguese and Russian text in-game.
Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will also launch a physical edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S that includes both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Moreover, there is also going to be a mega Yakuza Series 20th Anniversary Bundle physical edition for PlayStation 5 and PC, and that includes Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 games.
Yakuza Kiwami is the extreme remake of the first Yakuza game that kicked off the series around 20 years ago. You play as former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu, who learns about a 10-billion-yen conspiracy. Yakuza Kiwami features four fighting styles: Brawler, Rush, Beast and Dragon. The player can also pick up makeshift weapons scattered here and there to take on multiple enemies.
In Yakuza Kiwami 2, you reprise the role of the “Dragon of Dojima” Kazuma Kiryu, who comes back to take on the “Dragon of Kansai,” Ryuji Goda, when rival Yakuza gangs go to war.
If you have the older-gen consoles and want to play the remakes, it is still a good time to do that. Yakuza Kiwami is available to play across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 (Japan-exclusive), Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, while Yakuza Kiwami 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
