Oppo’s sub-brand Realme is gearing up to launch the next smartphone in its number series, named the Realme 16 5G, in India. The brand has now announced the launch date of the handset in India and revealed its key features. The Realme 16 5G is confirmed to house a horizontally aligned rear camera module with a circular LED flash. Another unique inclusion will be a small reflective surface that the company is marketing as a ‘selfie mirror.’

Realme 16 5G: India launch date, expected features

The Realme 16 5G will be unveiled in India on April 2. The announcement comes days after the smartphone maker started teasing the arrival of the handset through a microsite on Flipkart. It will be available to purchase through the same e-commerce platform and the company's online store. The teaser page also confirms that the phone will have two colour options: Air Black and Air White.

Further, the company has revealed that the Realme 16 5G will be equipped with a 7,000mAh battery paired with 60W charging support. It will ship with Android 16 out of the box, with the company's Realme UI 7.0 interface on top. The handset will get three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. It will also feature a vapour chamber cooling system and offer an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.

In terms of design, the Realme 16 5G will get a horizontally aligned rear camera module, similar to the Google Pixel smartphones, that houses a 50MP sensor alongside a circular LED flash. The more unusual addition would be a small reflective circular surface, marketed as a ‘selfie mirror,’ allowing users to use the rear camera for high-quality selfie shots. The global version of the Realme 16 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 SoC, and we expect the same chipset to power the Indian model.
