Perplexity is bringing its AI-first browser to iPhone next month, expanding beyond desktop and Android. After debuting Comet on Mac last summer, the company has now listed Comet for iPhone on the App Store, with the app set to go live on March 11.
AI search and automation on mobile
The new iPhone version of Comet builds on the same concept introduced on macOS. Developed by Perplexity AI, the browser centres on AI-powered search, summarisation and task automation directly within the browsing experience.
According to the App Store listing, Comet acts as a “personal assistant and thinking partner”, offering unified AI search, contextual summaries and automation tools across websites. Users will be able to summarise articles, manage research, shop and schedule tasks without leaving the browser interface.
The app description also suggests that Comet adapts to user behaviour over time, learning browsing habits to keep tabs organised and reduce friction. Like its desktop counterpart, the iPhone version appears designed to blur the line between browser and AI assistant, positioning the app as more than a traditional web navigator.
No iPad app yet
At launch, Comet for iPhone does not appear to include a dedicated iPad version. The App Store listing references only the iPhone release scheduled for March 11.
Comet is currently available on Mac, Windows and Android. With the iPhone release, Perplexity is extending its AI-browser strategy into Apple’s mobile ecosystem, a key battleground as companies experiment with so-called agentic browsing experiences.
Users can pre-order the app now via the App Store, allowing it to download automatically once it becomes available. The move signals Perplexity’s continued push to compete in a browser market increasingly shaped by AI integration rather than just speed and design.
