OPPO has announced that its Reno15 smartphone series will launch in India on January 8, 2026. The company shared the update through a press release, calling the lineup one of its most camera-focused launches yet. The phones are being positioned for people who travel often and enjoy clicking portraits, group photos and videos without needing professional equipment.

The Reno15 Pro 5G and Reno15 Pro Mini 5G are confirmed to come with a 200MP main camera. OPPO says the goal is simple: pack a sensor that captures enough detail so photos stay sharp even if they are cropped or reframed later. This matters for travellers who may want to edit their shots after returning from a trip, especially when photographing detailed locations like heritage sites, busy streets or scenic landscapes.

Along with the main sensor, OPPO has also confirmed a 50MP telephoto portrait camera that can zoom 3.5 times using optical zoom. OPPO explains that this lens is built to capture human faces and expressions clearly, even when the photo is taken from a slight distance. It also creates depth-rich frames where the background appears naturally closer to the subject, helping portraits look more immersive without feeling artificial.

There will also be a 50MP ultra-wide camera that fits more into a single frame, which OPPO says is useful for group selfies, travel scenery and landmark photos. The company also mentioned that the phone software will process faces individually in group photos so everyone looks sharp and evenly lit, even if people are standing at different distances in the frame.

A major highlight of the announcement is OPPO’s new PureTone Technology. Srinivas explains that many smartphone cameras focus so aggressively on faces that the background either looks dull or overly blurred. PureTone is meant to fix that by balancing the person and the surroundings together. OPPO claims the aim is to preserve natural colours, lighting and texture, while handling Indian skin tones more accurately in different lighting conditions, whether photos are taken outdoors in daylight or indoors under mixed lights.

OPPO has also confirmed that the Reno15 series will introduce AI Editor 3.0, a built-in suite of creative photo tools. One of the features mentioned is AI Portrait Glow, which adjusts lighting based on the scene with one tap, offering different lighting styles like natural light, studio light or rim light. The company also talked about tools that can refine motion shots, slow them down or adjust lighting after they are captured. There will also be a creative photo mode where subjects appear to step out of the frame, giving images a more playful and share-ready look without needing external apps.

On the video front, OPPO has confirmed 4K video recording at 60 frames per second on all cameras, including the front, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. OPPO explains that this will allow creators to switch between wide shots and close-ups smoothly while editing, without sudden changes in quality, colour or exposure. The phones will also support dual-camera recording (front and back at the same time), clicking photos during video recording, and editing videos directly on the device without interrupting the recording.

The standard Reno15 5G model is also confirmed to launch on the same day. It will include several AI photography features and come with a 50MP main camera and telephoto portrait lens, aimed at everyday users who want good photos without complex camera settings.

With this announcement, OPPO is making its intention clear—bring high-resolution cameras, smarter portraits, inclusive multilingual meeting support, and creative AI editing into phones that are built for real-world photography, especially for Indian users. The official sale or availability details are not confirmed yet, but the launch date is locked for January 8, 2026.
