OnePlus appears to be preparing to expand its Android 16–based OxygenOS 16 testing programme to more devices. According to new leaks, the company may soon open applications for the Closed Beta Testing (CBT) phase on the OnePlus Nord 4, following its ongoing programme for the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s.
Closed Beta Testing Expansion
Tipster Abhishek Yadav shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) showing that after the August 2025 security patch update, a new option to apply for Closed Beta appeared in the Nord 4’s updater settings. Previously, no beta-related options were available. This strongly suggests that OnePlus is gearing up to let Nord 4 users participate in the CBT programme.
At present, the CBT programme for OxygenOS 16 is limited to the OnePlus 13 and 13s models, with around 300 participants per batch. OnePlus requires beta testers to be active members of its community, as their feedback helps refine the software before wider release. However, as these are early pre-release builds, they typically include bugs, unfinished features, and potential stability issues—making them best suited for advanced users or developers.
Timeline and Expected Features
OnePlus has not officially confirmed an OxygenOS 16 release date, but based on rollout patterns, the Open Beta is expected to begin around October 2025 for Nord devices. The stable build may follow in November, first arriving on newer models before expanding to other smartphones.
OxygenOS 16, built on Android 16, is expected to bring several upgrades including refreshed widgets, deeper customisation options, navigation improvements, and new AI-powered features. These enhancements are aimed at improving day-to-day usability while maintaining the clean, fast experience OxygenOS is known for.
What It Means for Nord 4 Users
If the leak is accurate, Nord 4 owners may soon get the chance to test upcoming features months before general release. With OnePlus widening its beta programme, the company signals its intent to keep mid-range models updated alongside flagships—an encouraging move for long-time fans of the brand.
