London-based consumer tech unicorn Nothing has unveiled the Phone (4a) Series, introducing the Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro as its latest mid-range contenders in India.
The new series leans heavily into Nothing’s signature transparent aesthetic while pushing harder on cameras, AI tools and performance. The company says this is its most refined design language yet — slimmer, stronger and more expressive.
Design: Transparent, but tougher
The Phone (4a) Pro features a precision-crafted metal unibody design and measures just 7.95mm thick, making it the slimmest Nothing phone so far. It comes with IP65 dust and water resistance and can withstand submersion up to 25cm for 20 minutes. A large 5300mm² vapour chamber helps with cooling.
Nothing’s trademark transparent look remains central. On the Pro, the camera module and Glyph Matrix integrate seamlessly into the metal body, available in black, silver and a new metallic pink finish.
The standard Phone (4a) retains a transparent upper panel highlighting the central camera, red recording light and a new Glyph Bar. It carries IP64 protection and similar submersion support. Colours include black, white, blue and soft pink.
Cameras: Telephoto takes centre stage
Photography is a major focus. The Phone (4a) Pro packs a Sony LYT700c OIS main sensor and a 50MP 3.5x OIS telephoto lens offering up to 140x Ultra Zoom — the longest zoom yet on a Nothing phone. A Sony ultra-wide lens and 32MP selfie camera round out the system.
The standard Phone (4a) also features a 50MP OIS main camera and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens, delivering up to 70x Ultra Zoom. Both devices use the TrueLens Engine 4 with AI enhancements, including Ultra XDR photos co-developed with Google and support for 4K Ultra XDR video.
New software features include AI Eraser, motion photo HDR support and updated camera presets.
Glyph Interface evolves
Nothing continues to treat lighting as both design and function. The Phone (4a) introduces a refined Glyph Bar with 63 mini-LEDs across seven zones, reaching up to 3500 nits brightness. It offers notification alerts, progress indicators and can double as a soft fill light.
The Phone (4a) Pro debuts a more advanced Glyph Matrix with 137 mini-LEDs. Despite using fewer lights than previous iterations, it covers 57% more area and reaches around 3000 nits brightness. Popular Glyph Toys such as Battery, Timer and Digital Clock are integrated into the Matrix Always-On Display.
Nothing OS and AI
Both phones ship with Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16. The update brings redesigned icons, deeper dark mode, floating apps, upgraded Live Notifications and enhanced widgets. The AI Dashboard provides greater control over on-device AI features.
Nothing AI introduces Essential Search for cross-app queries, Essential Memory for personalised recall and Playground for creating no-code AI widgets. For the first time in the (4a) Series, Essential Space supports cloud access across devices.
The company is promising three years of Android updates and six years of security patches.
Displays and performance
The Phone (4a) Pro features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, 450 PPI and peak HDR brightness of 5000 nits. It has ultra-slim 1.85mm bezels and Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
The Phone (4a) comes with a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 4500 nits HDR peak brightness.
Under the hood, the Pro runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Nothing claims 27% faster CPU and 65% stronger AI performance over the previous generation. The standard Phone (4a) uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with LPDDR4x RAM.
Both support BGMI at 120Hz and PUBG at 90Hz.
A 5400mAh battery powers the series, with 50W fast charging that reaches 60% in 30 minutes. Nothing claims over 90% battery health retention after 1,200 charge cycles.
