Nothing’s upcoming Phone (3) will be the company’s “first true flagship,” and a major upgrade from last year’s model at least that’s how Nothing’s co-founder Akis Evangelidis describes it.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Evangelidis shared why the company chose Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip for the Phone (3). “It’s Qualcomm’s latest top-tier chip with an all–big core setup, making it even more efficient,” he said.
Phone (3) is our first true flagship and a major step up from Phone (2).For it we went with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 - Qualcomms latest top-tier chip with an allbig core setup, making it even more efficient.Paired with all the optimisations weve made in Nothing OS, the https://t.co/exJDF2F1wMAkis Evangelidis (@AkisEvangelidis) June 17, 2025
He added that the chip, when paired with all the optimisations in Nothing OS, makes the phone feel “super fast and smooooth.”
To back it up, Evangelidis also shared some internal performance numbers compared to Phone (2):
--GPU performance up by 88%
--CPU performance up by 33%
--NPU performance up by 125%
Battery optimisation results are still being finalised, he said, but things are looking promising — again thanks to the efficient core structure of the new chip.
He also teased a big leap in camera performance, made possible by the new Spectra 18-bit Triple ISP. According to Evangelidis, this upgrade allows real-time segmentation of up to 12 different layers in a photo. “It helps separate and enhance different elements in your photos — so you’ll see much better detail, colour accuracy, etc.,” he said.
While the launch date is still under wraps, Akis’s post makes it clear that Phone (3) isn’t just another mid-range device — it’s Nothing’s boldest attempt yet at building a true flagship phone.
