Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the 4v4 action fighting game by Arc System Works, PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, will have 20 playable characters from the Marvel Universe at launch, as per a briefly updated Steam page description. The updates were later removed. Before the roster was expanded to 20 Marvel characters, only eight were confirmed to arrive at launch. They are Captain America (Steve Rogers), Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Iron Man, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Star-Lord and Storm.
Also, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will have a 64-player online lobby and a single-player Episode Mode. The Episode Mode is focussed on the team dynamics between Marvel heroes and villains, and players will learn about their shared lore.
The Steam store page for the upcoming 4v4 fighting game also listed these PC features:
“Ultra Settings–Experience the action of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls at high performance rates of 60fps (locked in battle) and super crisp 4K visuals. (4K requires compatible 4K TV or display.)
DualSense Controller Support–MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls features full use of the DualSense controller on PC. For DualSense controller, wired connection required to experience the full range of in-game controller features.”
The upcoming Marvel tag team fighting game allows for a range of unique move sets, chain combos and battle strategies for the Marvel super beings. However, many players looking forward to the game aren’t exactly happy with just 20 playable characters at launch, since it is a 4v4 game, and a much bigger roster would be appreciated.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) in 2026. The developers are yet to confirm the release date. PlayStation's State of Play event is coming up this month itself, so it is likely that we would get to hear more details on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
