iPhone 14 selling with massive discounts on Vijay Sales but should you buy it now?

If you’ve been eyeing an iPhone upgrade, Vijay Sales is offering a tempting deal on the iPhone 14. The base 128GB model is listed at Rs 51,900, down from the usual Rs 59,900. If you pay with an ICICI Bank or SBI Card credit card (including EMI transactions), you can get an extra Rs 1,000 off, bringing the effective starting price to Rs 49,900.

The 256GB version is going for Rs 54,900, while the 512GB model is available at Rs 64,900. Color options include Midnight, Purple, Starlight, (PRODUCT)RED, Blue, and Yellow.

What you get with the iPhone 14

The iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, an A15 Bionic chip, and a dual-camera system with 12MP wide and ultra-wide lenses. It supports features like Night mode, Cinematic mode video, Crash Detection, and Emergency SOS via satellite. It is water and dust resistant (IP68 rating) and supports MagSafe wireless charging.

While these specs are still solid for 2025, it is important to note that the iPhone 14 first launched in September 2022. That means it’s almost three years old.

The timing problem

The biggest catch here is timing. The iPhone 17 is expected to launch in just about a month. Once that happens, Apple will likely discontinue the iPhone 14 and slash prices further on newer models like the iPhone 16. Retailers will also be offering aggressive festive season discounts on the iPhone 15 series, which comes with the more powerful A16 Bionic chip, improved cameras, and the Dynamic Island display feature on all models.

In other words, while the iPhone 14 at under Rs 50,000 sounds like a steal today, waiting a few weeks could get you a newer device with better long-term support, possibly at a similar price point.

If you need a phone urgently and your budget is under Rs 50,000, this Vijay Sales deal is attractive. The iPhone 14 is still fast, takes excellent photos, and will get iOS updates for years to come. But if you can wait until after the iPhone 17 launch, you may find better value in picking up an iPhone 15 during the upcoming sales season.
