Apple is gearing up to release the public beta version of iOS 26 this week. Following multiple developer previews after its announcement at WWDC 2025, the iOS 26 public beta is expected to be available from July 23. This early access version allows users to experience the new design and features before the final rollout later this year.
Rollout date and eligibility
The iOS 26 public beta is set to roll out around July 23. Users interested in testing it can sign up through the Apple Beta Software Program by logging in with their Apple ID at the official beta site. Once enrolled, the beta version can be installed via the device’s settings. However, users are advised to back up their devices beforehand as beta versions may contain bugs.
Supported devices
iOS 26 drops support for some older iPhones, such as the iPhone XR and iPhone XS. The update is compatible with iPhone 11 and newer models, including the second- and third-generation iPhone SE. To access the full set of Apple Intelligence features, including advanced AI tools, users will need an iPhone 15 Pro or any of the iPhone 16 models.
Top features
iOS 26 introduces a major design overhaul called Liquid Glass, offering refreshed app icons, smoother animations, and more flexible customisation for the Home and Lock screens. Several system apps, including Safari, Photos, and Camera, have received layout enhancements for easier navigation.
Apple Intelligence is a key focus, offering live translation for audio and text, smarter screen-based suggestions, and integration with tools like ChatGPT. Users can create Genmoji (custom emojis), generate playful images using Image Playground, and use new context-based shortcuts.
In the Messages app, users can add polls, set custom backgrounds, and view group typing indicators. Unknown senders are now automatically filtered. The Phone app consolidates recent calls, voicemails, and favourites, and introduces Call Screening and Hold Assist.
iOS 26 also brings a new Apple Games app for better game management and updates to CarPlay, including pinned conversations, widget support, and compact call views.
