Google has revealed that 75% of Indians are seeking a “daily growth collaborator”—an AI assistant to help them navigate daily challenges and enhance personal development. A study conducted by Google — in association with Kantar — encompassing over 8,000 participants across 18 cities, underscores a strong desire among Indians to boost productivity (72%), enhance creativity (77%), and improve communication (73%).

Despite this enthusiasm, AI adoption remains in its infancy in India. The report indicates that 60% of respondents are unfamiliar with AI, and only 31% have engaged with any Generative AI tools. However, early adopters of Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, report significant benefits: 92% experienced increased confidence, and 93% noted enhanced productivity.

The study also highlights common obstacles hindering personal growth. A significant 68% of individuals struggle with initiating tasks, while 52% feel they lack the necessary skills or guidance. These challenges have tangible consequences, with 61% admitting to abandoning professional or creative pursuits due to such hurdles.

Beyond professional aspirations, daily tasks also present challenges. For instance, 76% of respondents wish to save time on routine activities like travel planning or budgeting, and 84% desire to be more creative in everyday tasks, such as assisting children with homework or experimenting with new recipes. However, 71% feel blocked when trying new recipes, and 67% find planning desired travel hindering.

“As AI collaboration advances rapidly, we’re excited about the possibilities and remain committed to putting the user first and bringing the power of AI to all. We continue to push the boundaries in our promise of bringing users a truly personalised, helpful AI assistant and collaborator with the power of Google’s cutting-edge AI models,” said Shekar Khosla, vice president, marketing, Google India.
