Chinese smartphone maker, Honor, is scheduled to launch its Magic 8 series and the Honor Magic V6 foldable phone in the fourth quarter of this year. The company is already setting expectations around these devices, describing its upcoming Magic 8 series as ‘AI-native’ devices designed to bring smarter artificial intelligence features directly into everyday use. Now, a new leak suggests Honor is going to equip all of these high-end devices with 200MP main cameras, with one of the Honor Magic 8 devices to also get a 200MP periscope shooter.
Honor Magic 8 series, Magic V6: Expected camera details
A Weibo post from tipster Digital Chat Station reveals that Honor is expected to equip 200MP primary cameras for its upcoming handsets, and it has ordered a large quantity of sensors for this purpose. The leaker also claims that these 200MP sensors will be used by the company on the Magic8 series devices, as well as the Magic V6 foldable smartphone, which could arrive by the end of this year or in early 2026.
Moreover, according to the post, the flagship model from the Magic 8 series, the Magic 8 Ultra, will get the 200MP telephoto shooter. It is speculated to be an OmniVision sensor that could be customised for this handset. While the sensor's specifications are yet to surface, the tipster suggested that it could be a bigger lens.
On the hardware front, the Magic 8 series could be equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is confirmed to be introduced next week. Moreover, if this leak holds, then the upcoming Magic V6 could be the first non-Samsung foldable with a 200MP primary camera.
