Capcom has announced that it would bring Resident Evil: Biohazard Gold Edition, Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition and Resident Evil: Requiem to Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day next year. All three games will arrive on Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, the day Resident Evil: Requiem launches on other platforms.
Earlier this week, AestheticGamer aka ‘Dusk Golem’ claimed that all six Resident Evil games developed with RE Engine will be ported to Nintendo Switch 2. Going by Capcom’s announcement, three of the six are already on their way to Switch 2, leaving out Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes.
It should be noted that Capcom had released Resident Evil 2, 3, 7 and Village on Nintendo Switch, but since those were not native ports, the Japanese game developer's move drew heavy criticism from players looking forward to an effortless gameplay experience on the Switch platform. The cloud editions of the Resident Evil games required a fast internet connection at all times, and this restriction wasn’t received well by players.
This time, however, things are different. The Switch 2 editions of Resident Evil 7, Village and Requiem are native ports, and the games can be downloaded and played offline at any time players want.
Resident Evil: Requiem or RE9 introduces a new protagonist to the horror franchise--FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft--and takes the action back to Raccoon City. Capcom is bringing the full experience of the older games like Biohazard and Village to Switch 2 in the form of their Gold Editions. Resident Evil: Biohazard Gold Edition includes the full game along with the Banned Footage Vol. 1 and 2 DLC and the “End of Zoe” epilogue episode. Resident Evil: Village Gold Edition introduces a third-person mode for the story campaign of the game.
