Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch globally on November 19, 2026, following multiple delays from its earlier 2025 target. The long-awaited sequel is being developed by Rockstar Games, with parent company Take-Two Interactive backing the revised timeline.
The studio has said the additional development time is aimed at refining the open world, narrative depth, and gameplay systems, keeping in line with the franchise’s scale and technical ambitions.
Expected price and editions
While Rockstar has not announced official pricing, industry estimates suggest GTA 6 will be positioned higher than previous releases. In the US market, the standard edition is expected to fall between $80 and $100. Premium editions with digital bonuses or collector items could cross this range further.
For India, early projections place the base version close to Rs 6,000, with deluxe or special editions likely exceeding Rs 7,000. Rising development costs and the expanded scope of the game are widely seen as the main factors behind the higher expected price point.
Console launch and PC support plans
GTA 6 will launch first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC release window, but past release patterns suggest the PC version could arrive months or even a year after the console debut.
Older-generation consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not expected to support the game due to hardware limitations and performance demands.
Gameplay, setting and core features
The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, featuring a modern reimagining of Vice City inspired by Miami and surrounding regions of southern Florida.
Players will control two protagonists, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, introducing a dual-character narrative system similar in concept to GTA V but with deeper character-driven storytelling.
Leaks and early trailers indicate improved environmental detail, more interactive NPC behavior, enhanced physics systems, and expanded character-switching mechanics designed to create a more immersive open-world experience.
What to expect before release
Ahead of launch, Rockstar is expected to roll out major trailers, gameplay showcases, and pre-order announcements through 2026. Final pricing, PC system requirements, and online multiplayer details are likely to be revealed closer to release.
With November 2026 now firmly set, GTA 6 remains one of the most closely watched releases in gaming, shaping expectations for the next generation of open-world titles.
