The Consul General of India at Shanghai, Pratik Mathur IFS co-hosted two well attended investors Round table reflecting various facets of Incredible Inia’s onward journey towards becoming Viksit Bharat in 2047. The most engaging discussion was on India’s pivotal role in shaping the future of AI and technology.
The talk explored India’s rich technological heritage, tracing its roots from Sanskrit texts to the development of large language models tailored to India's diverse dialects. The keynote speaker, Mukesh Sharma, Regional Head of Tech Mahindra in China, addressed a diverse audience representing over 15+ countries. Emphasizing India's commitment to responsible AI, Mukesh Sharma highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s co-chairing of the Paris Summit as a testament to the country’s leadership in fostering AI for good and for all.
India’s Thriving Start Up System
The discussion also shed light on India’s thriving startup ecosystem, ranking 19th globally, with Bengaluru securing a spot among the top 10 start up hubs worldwide. The talk delved into the evolution of AI, predicting a shift towards agentic AI, leading to multimodal singularity and eventually Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). India’s substantial new investment of $3 billion in AI infrastructure, the National Quantum Mission, and advancements in AI-driven applications across agriculture, cleantech, space tech, and healthcare were underscored as key milestones.
On March 27th, the Consulate General of India in Shanghai, in collaboration with the Indian Association Business Council (IABC), an Indian community organization in China, hosted a 'Business Meet & Greet' session titled 'India Inc. Growth Stories: Conquering the World' on 27th March 2025 at the Conference Hall of the Chancery. Consul General Pratik Mathur gave the opening remarks where he highlighted India's growth story, emphasized its strong macroeconomic fundamentals and the recent feat of becoming a USD 4.3 Trillion economy, with a 100% GDP growth in the last decade. India is now a beacon of hope for the world.

Consul General also spoke about India's growing presence in global value-chains, especially with successes in export-led manufacturing in electronics and mobile phones, pharmaceuticals, and white goods. Consul General urged Indian businesses to march forward as flag-bearers of 'Brand India’.
