OpenAI unveiled its DALL-E 3 image generation tool in September last year, allowing ChatGPT Plus users to create custom images with text prompts. The artificial intelligence company also introduced several enhancements for the DAllE-3 users at regular intervals. However, OpenAI has now allowed ChatGPT free-tier users to generate up to two images per day with its DALL-E 3 model.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly called Twitter), the company shared the update. It highlighted use cases such as creating images for slides, a greeting card, or a visual representation of things. DALL-E currently generates everything from simple sketches to complex, photorealistic images, making it a versatile tool for both personal and professional image creation purposes.
However, at the time of writing, we could not access image generation in ChatGPT free on the web. OpenAI said that the ability to create images with DALL-E 3 is rolling out for more users in the coming weeks.
But, this update marks a step forward in OpenAI’s mission to democratize access to AI, by allowing free users to experiment with DALL·E 3, even though in a limited capacity. Earlier this week, the company also confirmed creating a separate watermark to identify content written by ChatGPT, aiming to curb the increasing use of ChatGPT by students or professionals for different projects.
This involved subtly marking ChatGPT-generated text with an invisible watermark. However, OpenAI is cautious about releasing it publicly
