Build 2024: Microsoft reveals plans for creating AI-powered teammates

Microsoft has big plans for Copilot and it announced an all-new offering called Team Copilot. According to Microsoft, Team Copilot expands Copilot for Microsoft 365 from a behind-the-scenes personal AI assistant to a valuable new team member.

The idea, as per Microsoft, is to allow teams to collaborate better and effective project management. During the keynote at Build 2024, Microsoft explained that Team Copilot can be that important team member who can act on behalf of a team, a department or even the entire company. The users remains in control and can assign tasks to Copilot to ensure teams are more productive.

Team Copilot will be available in Teams, Loop, Planner, and other apps and services.

The virtual team mate can act as a collaborator in chats by searching for relevant information and even help in solving unaddressed issues. Also, it can serve as a project manager to help ensure every project runs smoothly and notify the team when their input is needed

According to Microsoft Team Copilot can help in productive discussions in meetings. It can manage the agenda or take notes which can be co-authored by ‘real’ team members as well.

Furthermore, Microsoft says that Copilot will help everyone get more out of chats. Copilot will ensure every project runs smoothly by creating and assigning tasks, tracking deadlines, and notifying team members when their input is needed, added Microsoft.

Microsoft said that the Team Copilot will be available in preview for all customers later this year.
