Social media platform BlueSky, which has gained immense popularity in the last few months, has started testing a new feature called Trending Topics. This feature is similar to the Trending section on X (formerly Twitter) and helps users discover the most popular conversations and trends happening on the platform.

BlueSky’s Trending Topics: Key details

As announced by Bluesky’s official account on the platform, the Trending Topics feature is now available in both the app and website for users across the world. On the desktop interface, you can see trending topics on the right sidebar, while on the mobile app, users can tap on the search button to look at all the trending conversations.

BlueSky has confirmed that it is the first version of the feature and intends to improve on it. Currently, the Trending Topics feature is still available in beta at the moment and for English users only. BlueSky users can also disable this feature by navigating to Settings > Content and Media and unchecking the ‘Enable trending topics' option to disable it.

Bluesky has also taken steps to ensure that user's preferences are respected within the trending topics section by allowing its users to mute certain words or phrases. These particular words and phrases will then not appear in the Trending Section and it allows users to curate their experience and avoid unwanted content based on their liking.

Recently, BlueSky also crossed the 25 million total users mark, amidst its growing popularity post-Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections.
