At its annual developer conferecne, Google announced several new AI features coming to its products and services. An AI-powered update is coming to the popular Google Photos app.
Called, Ask Photos, it harnesses the power of Gemini, Google's most advanced AI model, to streamline or simplify the user’s search for their photos and videos from their library.
Google’s AI features in Ask Photos: Key detailsGoogle is providing a Gemini AI-powered upgrade to Google Photos. It will allow users to recall a specific picture based on a single prompt by the user. The Ask Photos feature uses Gemini AI’s multimodal abilities to understand the context and subject of any picture and provides the user with a suitable result.
Google Photos previously could scan multiple faces with its object recognition algorithm. However, with the help of Gemini AI, Google has stepped up its game as Ask Photos uses generative AI processing to simply your search for any specific photo based on custom demands.
In addition to aiding in searches and providing helpful photos from a huge library, Ask Photos also assists users in completing custom tasks within the Google Photos app. For instance, it can help users curate the best photos from a trip they took years ago, and can even generate a custom video or slideshow from those photos.
Google has also assured that the queries asked by the users will not be stored and conversations will not be stored in its servers or shared with anybody else. Ask Photos is set to be rolled out gradually in the coming months, with Google asking many users to try this feature experimentally and give feedback to improve it.
