Apple has released an updated beta firmware for the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, giving developers early access to the latest AirPods features in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe. Currently, the firmware is limited to developers and requires a device running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS Tahoe for installation. The new build carries the number 8A5343a, replacing the previous 8A5324b.
The update introduces a range of enhancements designed to improve audio experiences across calls, recordings, and multimedia. Both the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 now offer improved audio quality for phone and video calls. Users can also enjoy studio-quality sound for interviews, podcasts, and video recordings. In addition, the AirPods can function as a camera remote in the Camera app, enabling users to capture photos or start video recording hands-free.
Apple has streamlined the beta testing process with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe by adding an option to install beta firmware directly from the AirPods settings interface when connected to a compatible iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This makes testing new AirPods features more accessible for developers ahead of the public release.
