Amazon has expanded its presence in India with the launch of a massive new office in Bengaluru, marking one of its biggest infrastructure investments in Asia. The company announced that its new campus, spread across 1.1 million square feet, is now open and will serve as its second-largest office in the region. Designed to house over 7,000 employees, the facility will support multiple business areas including ecommerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services.
Located around 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, the 12-storey campus sits on a five-acre plot and was officially inaugurated by Dr. M.B. Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development. The new office reflects Amazon’s long-term commitment to India, where it has already invested over $40 billion and plans to invest an additional $35 billion by 2030.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Patil said that Amazon’s continued investment highlights India’s growing importance as a global technology and innovation hub. He added that such large-scale campuses not only create high-quality jobs but also strengthen the local ecosystem and contribute to the country’s digital economy.
Amazon India Country Manager Samir Kumar also emphasised the company’s long-standing relationship with Bengaluru. He noted that the city has been central to Amazon’s journey in India, hosting some of its earliest teams and continuing to be a key hub for talent and innovation. Kumar said the company remains focused on building for both Indian and global customers while continuing to invest in infrastructure, technology, and people.
The new campus has been designed to encourage collaboration and flexibility. It features modern workspaces arranged into self-sustaining “neighbourhoods” with meeting rooms, breakout zones, and event spaces that can accommodate more than 200 people. The office also includes a range of employee-focused amenities such as basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheatre, landscaped outdoor areas, and community spaces.
In addition, the campus houses cafeterias spread across two floors, offering a variety of global cuisines for employees.
Amazon has also incorporated sustainability into the building’s design. The company says the campus aligns with its goal of achieving net-zero carbon by 2040 under The Climate Pledge. Measures such as responsible material sourcing, reuse of office assets, and energy-efficient systems have been implemented to reduce both construction-related and operational carbon footprint.
With this new campus, Amazon is not only expanding its physical footprint but also reinforcing its long-term bet on India’s growing digital economy.
