Varun Chakaravarthy and Tim David engaged in some mind games in the second T20I between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was eventually won by the Indian spinner. The moment took place during Australia's paltry 126-run chase, which they completed in just 13.2 overs and won the match by four wickets.
Irrespective of the outcome, Indian fans assembled at the venue did have few moments to cheer, such as the one involving Chakaravarthy and David.

It all began with the dismissal of Mitchell Marsh off Kuldeep Yadav's bowling on the last ball of the eight over. Josh Inglis then took a single in the first delivery of the next over bowled by Chakaravarthy bringing David on strike.
Chakaravarthy then asked Tilak Varma to close-in with a helmet on. An unperturbed David smiled, also engaged in a chat with Tilak.
Chakaravarthy then started his run up, David, batting with no helmet backed away. Next ball, Chakaravarthy comes running but didn't deliver, building the tension further. The exchange without any words being spoken between the two also drew smiles from captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak.

Though David took a single off the next ball, Chakaravarthy induced a false stroke from the Australian power-hitter a couple of balls later to take a simple return catch.
Chakaravarthy bowled a length delivery that was drifting into middle and leg. David got forward to push but the power behind it was enough to see the ball fly towards Chakaravarthy, who gleefully accepted the catch. David walked back after scoring only 1 run.
