Rohit Sharma's wife, Ritika Sajdeh, shared a heartfelt message for former India head coach Rahul Dravid, whose tenure concluded with India's victorious T20 World Cup campaign. Shortly after Rohit referred to Dravid as his 'work wife,' Ritika expressed how deeply Dravid had become part of the Sharma family. Late on Tuesday night, she reposted Rohit's emotional tribute on her Instagram story.
Ritika mentioned that their daughter Samaira would miss Dravid the most, writing, "So many emotions, you mean so much to our entire family. You will be missed so much. I think Sammy will miss you the most."
Her post came hours after Gautam Gambhir was appointed as Dravid's successor by the BCCI, with the former India opener set to serve as India's head coach until December 2027.
Over the past three years, Rohit and Dravid have collaborated closely. They assumed leadership roles in Indian cricket following the T20 World Cup in 2021: Dravid took over as head coach from Ravi Shastri, while Rohit was appointed white-ball captain before assuming the all-format captaincy after Virat Kohli stepped down in January 2022 following the South Africa tour.
Rohit Sharma wrote on his Instagram page, 'My wife (Ritika Sajdeh) calls you my work wife, and I am fortunate enough to be able to call you that as well.'
Rohit's tribute was also an indicator of the player-coach relationship in the Indian dressing room.
