SRH vs LSG, IPL 2025 Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got a taste of their own medicine, that too on their home ground in Hyderabad, as they crashed to a five-wicket defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday. Nicholas Pooran smashed a 26-ball 70 as LSG chased down the 191-run target in 16.1 overs.

LSG pacer Shardul Thakur took early wickets against the Delhi Capitals (DC), but LSG needed him to strike early against SRH to prevent them from going off to a flying start.

And Thakur rose to the occasion when he dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan off consecutive deliveries.

Thakur struck twice in his second over. First, he had Abhishek caught by Nicholas Pooran caught at deep square leg and on the next delivery, had last-match centurion Kishan caught behind by Rishabh Pant down the leg side for a first-ball duck.

Thakur was brought back in the attack in the 17th over and he dismissed Abdul Samad on the second ball of the over and then dismissed Mohammed Shami in his next over to finish with 4/34.

The early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan rattled SRH opener Travis Head.

Though Head batted at a strike rate of 167.86, it wasn’t up to the lofty standards that SRH have built their reputation on.

Head hit 3 sixes and 5 fours in his 28-ball 47, but he was dropped twice by LSG and when he was clean bowled by Prince Yadav in the eighth over, he was looking to hit everything when SRH needed him to stay at the crease.

Nicholas Pooran is surely and steadily becoming one of the best batsmen in the shortest format of the game. No score appears daunting when Pooran is at the crease.

LSG lost opener Aiden Markram in the second over, in walked Pooran and started the onslaught from the word go.

Pooran registered the fastest fifty of this IPL season, getting to the landmark off just 18 balls. This is the second fastest fifty for LSG after Pooran’s own 15-ball knock against RCB in Bengaluru in the 2023 IPL edition.

Pooran smashed 6 sixes and 6 fours in his 70-run knock that came off just 26 balls before he was dismissed by SRH captain Pat Cummins.

Opener Mitchell Marsh again gave the LSG run chase a flying start. The Aussie slammed 2 sixes and 7 fours in his 52-run knock that came off 31 balls and matched Pooran shot for shot.

Marsh and Pooran put up a 116-run stand off just 7.1 overs registering the highest partnership for LSG for the second wicket or below surpassing 111 by KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda against Rajasthan Royals in Lucknow last year.

Captain Cummins leads from the front:

Even though he landed on the losing side, SRH captain Pat Cummins again led his team from the front.

With the bat, Cummins smashed 3 sixes from the 3 balls that he faced and with the ball, broke the Pooran-Marsh stand dismissing both in his successive overs, finishing with figures of 2/29.
