Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have roped in all-rounder Harsh Dubey as a replacement for the injured left-hander Smaran Ravichandran for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season. Dubey, who represents Vidarbha in the domestic circuit, has joined SRH for Rs 30 lakh. The 22-year-old has featured in 16 T20s, 20 List A matches, and 18 First-Class games, amassing 127 wickets and 941 runs across formats.

Earlier this year, he was named Player of the Tournament for is stellar show in the Ranji Trophy in which he scored 476 runs and took 69 wickets.

The 21-year-old Smaran, a left-handed batter from Karnataka, had been signed as the replacement for the injured Adam Zampa last month.

SRH are placed ninth on the points table but remain alive in playoffs contention. The franchise have accumulated six points from 10 encounters and can't afford to make any further hiccups in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals, who are placed a spot above SRH, and Chennai Super Kings, who are at the bottom of the points table, are the two teams that have been eliminated so far.

Before the season started, SRH were being looked as one of the most formidable teams, boasting the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen in their ranks. But their repeated batting failures resulted in a string of defeats.

The strike bowlers too have failed to shoulder the responsibility for the Orange Army. Skipper Pat Cummins has failed to inspire the team with the ball, managing just 10 wickets from the same number of matches.

In addition, it has also been a tough season for senior pacer Mohammed Shami, who has managed just six wickets in nine innings. In fact in six of those games, he didn’t even complete his four-over quota, only to compound SRH's miseries.

The team will host Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday. While SRH need a win to remain alive in the competition, it won't be an easy task in front of Capitals, who are vying for the playoffs position.

The good news for SRH is that the Capitals have witnessed a recent slump and the hosts will surely look to capitalise on the same.
