IPL 2025: The reunion of Nitish Rana with his old team and the chance to show them that they were wrong to let him go was one of the underlying subplots of the IPL 2025 match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati.
Fans cruelly reminded the India batter of his previous "loyalty" comment when he was dismissed for just eight runs, leaving him humiliated.
Prior to the mega auction in November of last year, the team released Rana, who played for KKR for seven IPL seasons and even captained them in 2023 when regular captain Shreyas Iyer was not there.
Rana and his family were deeply hurt by the choice. Therefore, his wife Saachi Marwah took to social media to subtly criticize KKR, saying, "Loyalty is very expensive; not everyone can afford it."

Then, Rana posted an Instagram story with the description, "Royal-ty is pink!" and a picture of himself wearing a pink shirt.
Social media users made the RR batsman feel embarrassed by making fun of him for his "loyalty" remark after Moeen Ali removed Rana for just eight runs off nine balls on Wednesday.
Venky Mysore, the CEO of KKR, responded to the dismissal with a humorous smile and applause from the stands, which went viral on the internet. Watch the video here...

As a result of a disciplined bowling effort that held Rajasthan to a below-par 151/9, the KKR spin combo of Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen worked in perfect harmony to weave their magic.
Owing to Sunil Narine's injury, KKR's new spin combination proved to be their game-changer on a dry and sticky Barsapara field where the ball wasn't coming onto the bat.
The momentum shifted in favor of KKR as the two destroyed the Royals' middle order, taking two wickets each in consecutive overs immediately following the powerplay.

Moeen ended with 2/23 from his four overs, while Chakravarthy bowled out his quota with remarkable figures of 2/17.
Opener Quinton de Kock took the team home with fifteen balls remaining, after smashing the greatest total ever scored by a KKR batsman in a run-chase. KKR won the match by 8 wickets thanks to De Kock's undefeated 97 off 61 balls to earn their first points of the season.
