DC vs RR, IPL 2025 Highlights: In the first Super Over of this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Delhi Capitals came out triumphant against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday. Chasing a 189-run target, the Royals could only tie the match that went into Super Over to decide the winner.
In five points, here’s how the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals unfolded and concluded in the Super Over...Fraser-McGurk’s poor run continues:
Jofra Archer got rid off Jake Fraser-McGurk for 9 (AP Photo)Jake Fraser-McGurk is the latest batting talent to emerge from Australia. In IPL 2024, Fraser-McGurk amassed 330 runs at an average of 36.66 in nine innings. He hit four half-centuries and had an incredible strike rate of 234.04, with the highest score of 84.
But in this edition of the IPL, Fraser-McGurk has failed to play to his potential yet. With scores of 1, 38, 0, 7, 0 till now, DC were hoping that their opener comes good on Wednesday.
Fraser-McGurk got off the mark with 2 consecutive fours off Jofra Archer in the first over but the England pacer had his revenge when he dismissed the Aussie in his next over for 9.
Karun Nair’s run-out:Karun Nair top scored for DC in the last match against Mumbai Indians. But cricket, they say, is a great leveller. Against RR, Nair was run-out for a duck after Abishek Porel first called him for a single and then sent him back. But Porel made up for it by top scoring for DC with a 37-ball 49, but the slowness of the Kotla wicket didn't allow him to maintain the same pace.
DC lower order:KL Rahul (38), Tristan Stubbs (34*) and captain Axar Patel (34) enabled DC to put up a competitive total on the board. Rahul put up a 63-run stand with Porel and then Stubbs and Axar smashed 3 sixes each to take DC to 188/5.
Ashutosh Sharma chipped in with an unbeaten 11-ball 15 as DC scored 77 in the last 5 overs, though their 188/5 was the lowest total (first/second innings) in seven IPL matches in Delhi since 2024.
Jaiswal and Rana dismissals:
Yashasvi Jaiswal got to his third fifty of IPL 2025 (BCCI Photo)With captain Sanju Samson retired hurt for 31, the onus was on Yashasvi Jaiswal to take the Royals over the line. The left-handed opener got to his third fifty of IPL 2025 off 34 balls. But shortly after DC got his wicket as Kuldeep Yadav had Jaiswal caught by Mitchell Starc at long-on for 51.
Nitish Rana too played well to score a 26-ball 50, but a yorker by Starc proved to be too good for the batter, who fell plumb in front of the wicket.
The Super Over:

Hetmyer and Riyan Parag walked to bat for the Royals in the Super Over bowled by Starc. And the experienced Aussie pacer gave away just two boundaries and conceded 11 runs as Parag and Jaiswal were run out on the last 2 balls.
With 12 to win off the Super Over, DC opted for Rahul and Stubbs and Royals went with Sandeep Sharma. Rahul took 2 runs off the first ball, hit the second delivery for a four over backward point and took a single off the third delivery to bring Stubbs on strike. With 5 runs needed off 3 balls, Stubbs pulled a short delivery over the mid-wicket fence into the crowd as Delhi Capitals won via the Super Over to climb on top of the points table.
