ISRO has successfully launched BlueBird Block‑2 (BlueBird 6) aboard its LVM3‑M6 “Baahubali” rocket from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Baahubal rocket lifted off at about 08:54–08:55 am (IST) in the morning of 24 December 2025. The launch highlights ISRO’s growing capabilities in heavy-lift missions and commercial space services.

PM Modi congratulated ISRO on Lauch of BlueBird-6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally congratulated ISRO scientists on the historic launch. He hailed BlueBird 6 as a significant step in India’s technological and scientific leadership.

PM Modi emphasised the mission’s role in enhancing global connectivity through satellite broadband services. The Prime Minister also highlighted ISRO’s potential for international collaborations and commercial space contracts.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh also congratulated ISRO for the successful launch. In a post on X, Singh said, "Kudos Team ISRO for the successful launch of LVM3-M6 carrying BlueBird Block-2. With the visionary patronage of PM Shri Narendra Modi, ISRO continues to achieve one success after another, reiterating India's growing prowess in Space technology."

What BlueBird-6 Will Do in Space? 

BlueBird 6 is built by AST SpaceMobile and aims to deliver 4G and 5G broadband directly to standard mobile phones. Unlike traditional satellites, it does not rely on ground station relays, linking directly to devices.

The mission is expected to expand connectivity in remote, rural, and underserved areas worldwide. It demonstrates India’s ability to handle heavy-lift satellites for advanced communication purposes.
