A rare and shocking incident in a Chhattisgarh village saw a monkey snatch a 20-day-old baby and throw her into a well. The infant survived after floating for several minutes, aided by her diaper. Quick action by villagers and timely CPR by a visiting nurse saved the child’s life. Doctors later confirmed the baby was stable, prompting renewed concerns about child safety in areas with frequent wildlife encounters.

A shocking wildlife incident in Chhattisgarh left a village shaken on Monday. A 20-day-old baby survived after being thrown into a well. The incident occurred in Seoni village, officials confirmed. Residents described panic as a monkey entered a home. The animal snatched the infant from her mother’s arms. It fled moments later as neighbours raised alarms. The episode has renewed concerns over child safety.

Monkey attack shocks Seoni village residents

According to villagers, the mother was feeding her baby indoors. A monkey suddenly entered the house without warning. It grabbed the infant before anyone could react. The mother screamed as neighbours rushed outside immediately. Villagers chased the monkey through nearby lanes. Moments later, the baby vanished from sight. Residents then searched surrounding areas anxiously. Attention soon turned towards open village wells.

Baby rescued from well after frantic search

Villagers noticed the infant floating inside a well. The baby remained afloat for nearly ten minutes. Her diaper trapped air and prevented sinking. Locals quickly arranged a bucket and rope. The infant was pulled out carefully by villagers. She appeared unresponsive after the rescue. Panic spread as people gathered around the well.

Nurse’s quick CPR saves infant’s life

Rajeshwari Rathore, a nurse visiting for a religious event, intervened. She immediately began emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Villagers cleared space as she worked calmly. Within moments, the baby showed breathing signs. Residents described the scene as emotional and tense. The infant was rushed to a hospital immediately. Doctors later confirmed the baby was stable. They said no serious injuries were detected.

Family gratitude and safety concerns raised

The baby’s father, Arvind Rathore, thanked villagers publicly. He works at the Madwa Power Plant. Rathore said monkeys are commonly seen in villages. However, he noted such an incident never occurred earlier. He credited villagers and the nurse for saving lives. Rathore urged parents to supervise children carefully. Residents now fear increasing wildlife movement near homes. Authorities are being urged to consider safety measures.
